Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke Has Given Me My Marching Orders!

The Audience

On February 19, 2016, I had a private audience with Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke. His Eminence approves everything I do for sharing the faith before I do it. In fact, I’ve voluntarily placed myself under absolute obedience to His Eminence in all things pertaining to the Church. At our audience, I got on my knees before Cardinal Burke and repeated the words of St. Michael the Archangel: SERVIAM! I told the Cardinal that I would serve Christ and His Church through service to His Eminence in absolute obedience. He accepted my pledge of obedience by giving me a very special and impromptu blessing in Latin.

Among the many things we talked about was the future of this apostolate. His Eminence was adamant that he wants Joe Sixpack to grow and reach as many souls as I can possibly reach. He is absolutely convinced that the work being done through this apostolate is vital to evangelization, the growth of our parishes, the spiritual growth of the laity, and as an aid to parish priests.

The Problem

The problem Joe Sixpack is facing now is the financial ability to keep the apostolate going. I have been financing this apostolate completely out of my own pocket since I began over a year ago. It costs a lot of money to keep Joe online and producing resources, and I simply don’t have it. So I told His Eminence that I was open to seeking partners who could underwrite the apostolate, which would require that I expose my true identity to those partners. However, for reasons that are both spiritual and practical, Cardinal Burke told me he wants me to stay “under the radar” and continue to work anonymously. So His Eminence told me to begin asking for gifts from Sixpackers.

I never wanted to ask for financial help, as I’d hoped revenues generated from
What We Believe...Why We Believe It would be enough to carry the costs of doing business. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.

An unfortunate reality of evangelization is (and has been from the very first century), that souls cost money. Evangelization, education, and growth have never been achieved without monetary expenditures. If you don’t believe that, just ask any parish priest.

Why Do We Need Help?

Producing What We Believe...Why We Believe It has never been the sole focus of this apostolate. From the very beginning, Joe Sixpack has planned to be the go-to resource for all the best materials for evangelization, apologetics, catechetics, spiritual growth, and ways to make learning Catholicism both interesting and fun. Currently in my creative cache are twelve different projects intended to help evangelize everyone—Catholics and non-Catholics alike. (Yes, all of us have to be evangelized every single day, yours truly included.) But it takes time and money to accomplish these things. Since I have to earn a living, time is a very important factor—time is money. There is the basic raw expense of producing these resources, and since I can’t do this full-time then there is the additional cost of beginning to outsource much of the grunt work: graphics, layout, design, etc. So I’m afraid His Eminence is right to tell me to begin asking for donations.

But check out what you’ll help to provide!

You can help today with your recurring gift of $10, $25, $50, $75 or $100, or you can make a one time gift of the amount of your choosing.

Look At What’s Coming!

Video Catechism Course

Joe Sixpack is going to produce a video catechism course, but it’s not like any course you’ve ever seen. What makes this course so unique is, it will be perfect for RCIA programs, but it can also be used for home study and evangelization. I’ll be teaching the faith in the same evangelistic manner and tenor I’ve used for more than twenty-five years to bring countless souls into the Church. I use humor, stories from the lives of the saints, anecdotal history lessons, and absolute orthodoxy. In all these years, I’ve never once had a student get glassy eyed while I’m teaching. The course will be entertaining and never boring.

I also plan to provide a handbook for RCIA programs and other group settings.

Online Catechism Course

Although I think the very best basic catechism course around is the one written by Servant of God Fr. John Hardon and the first course required for members of the Marian Catechist Apostolate, I realize it’s a wee bit heavy for most people. So I’m going to produce a new online course for anyone who wants to learn the faith more deeply. After each lesson there will be a quiz you can take to maintain a self-record of your own progress. It will be a modified version of the transcript for the video course described above, so it will be refreshingly entertaining for a catechism course. If enough funds are available, for those who prefer to sit at a desk or on the couch with pen and highlighter in hand, I’ll be making a print version available as well.

Video Apologetics Course

For those of you who are interested in active evangelization, or if you want to know how to defend the faith when people say disparaging things about the Church, or if you just want to learn more about how the faith is explained and defended, then this course will be for you. Like the video catechism course, it will be entertaining and fun. It will cover a great deal of Catholic history, but in a very exciting way rather than the boring images we conjure up when thinking about history lessons. You’ll also read a great deal about the early Church Fathers, and get a real strong introduction to Sacred Scripture… most especially the New Testament.

With this course, you’ll be able to sit around the computer (or your TV, if you’re set up for that) and take the course in groups. There will be supplemental handbook to follow the course and provide some additional great information as you go.

Online Apologetics Course

Just like I’ll be doing with the catechism course, I’ll also provide an online written course for apologetics. Also like the catechism course, it will be an edited version of the transcript of the video course. If the funds are available, I’ll also produce a print version of the course.

Downloadable Brochure Series

Some people might call these pamphlets or tracts, but they will simply be in a brochure format. These brochures will cover a host of topics. Those that are catechetical in nature will be written specifically for evangelization. You’ll be able to hand them out to your non-Catholic friends to ignite the spark of conversion, or to your lapsed Catholic friends as the first step toward bringing them home to Rome.

Other topics covered will be apologetical topics, Catholic culture, events in history, liturgical practices, and a host of other topics. Indeed, this tract series will never end, as I’ll be producing them to the day I die.

Here’s the best part about this series. If you go to other sites that sell tracts and brochures, you have to pay a huge price for a bundle of 25-50 printed items. With this resource you’ll be able to download them whenever you want and print as many as you need when you need them. They are being designed so you can print them on almost any sort of paper you want to print them on.

Evangelistic Catechism

Some of you are like me in that you prefer to evangelize one-on-one with a non-Catholic or lapsed Catholic. So for those of you who are Sixpackers of my own heart, I’m going to produce a print catechism you can use to teach evangelistically.

Never done this before and want to try it out but don’t know how? No problem. Then the next resource is just for you.

Handbook of Evangelization

One thing I’ve discovered is that when people learn the faith well in all its orthodox purity, they get excited about it. When they get excited, they want to share the faith. The problem for most people, though, is that they don’t know how to get started. That’s exactly who this resource is for.

I’m taking my entire career as a lay evangelist—every single thing I know about how to evangelize—and packing it into this simple handbook. The first version will be online only, but if the funds are available I’ll be producing a print version as well. You’ll love it, if for no other reason than to see what makes a lay evangelist tick and makes him successful at gaining converts.

The Sixpack Revolution!

This is the title of the podcast I want to begin. The original plan was to air the inaugural podcast in January of 2016, but that didn’t happen. Why? No money to pay for the outsourced work that needs to be done! But each podcast will have interviews with well-known Catholics (hint: the inaugural podcast will have an interview with a certain red hatted man who is my boss), tips on how to evangelize, and lots of evangelistic material. Although The Sixpack Revolution will be a fun podcast for like minded Catholics, it will be equally geared toward lapsed and non-Catholics.

The Sixpack Revolution will be available here on the website, of course, but you’ll also be able to subscribe to it on iTunes and I Heart Radio. That means you’ll be able to listen to it while commuting to and from work, as well as at your leisure at home. And because it will be available on the multiple platforms, we’ll be able to reach out to souls we couldn’t ordinarily reach. To my thinking, this is the most exciting resource we’ll be producing.

Downloadable Catholic Crossword & Word Search Puzzles

This is one of the fun ways to learn more about the faith. Crossword and word search puzzles are still very popular, and these can be used to learn terms and concepts for Catholic trivia, catechetics, history, apologetics, and the various schools of theology. These will be monthly downloadable puzzles, enough to last the entire month.

Ebooks & Print Books

I have a file of partially completed book manuscripts on a number of topics, mostly apologetical in nature. Some are scholarly (well, as scholarly as Joe Sixpack can get) and some convey teachings with humor. I want to get these finished and made available to Sixpackers in both digital and print formats. One book I’m working on is called Refuting Roman Catholicism. This is an important work I want to tell you about.

Nearly all modern anti-Catholic arguments come from one book titled
Roman Catholicism by the late Protestant theologian Loraine Boettner (he was a man), and it was published by Presbyterian and Reformed Publishing Company in 1962. It’s a rather hefty volume, and it has many, many attacks against the Catholic Church—many of which are ludicrous. However, the way Boettner presents his arguments makes them seem credible at first glance. The problem with writing a refutation to this book is, to answer the attacks line-by-line would require more than one volume. This is why no one has attempted to write a refutation… until now. And by titling it Refuting Roman Catholicism, it should actually be read not only by Catholics but non-Catholics as well.

There are also a lot of great writers out there who have the ability to produce tremendous works that can be of immense benefit to the Church (eternal benefit to souls), but they’ll likely never see the light of day in print because the good Catholic publishers simply can’t handle everything that comes in to them. For example, Ignatius Press can only publish X number of books per year, but they will get 10-20 times that many annual submissions. That means there are a lot of useful and edifying books that never get published. Well, Joe Sixpack wants to publish those books for you, provided they fit into Joe’s genre.

Apologetics & Scripture Resource Guide

Unless you’re a professional apologist like Karl Keating, Tim Staples, or Patrick Madrid, you are very unlikely to remember all the things you need to know to answer common objections to the Church and her teachings. With that in mind, Joe Sixpack has been working on a shirt pocket size guide that will have indexed and quick to find references on the most important topics. Not only will it take you to the scripture references you need to explain the Catholic faith from the Bible, but there will also be quotes from the early Church Fathers, the saints, official Church documents, etc. Of course, the biggest challenge is getting it formatted into the appropriate size. Since Joe isn’t well versed enough in the technology on how to get this done, this is one of the things I’ll have to outsource fully. I’m not sure that the format will be compatible to making it a digital download, so it will likely only be available in a print format.

The Ultimate Prayerbook

For quite some time now, Joe has been working on compiling what I consider the ultimate prayerbook. Not only will it have all your favorite prayers, but it will also contain some incredibly good prayers that have been left largely obscure or lost to history. Many of the prayers will be available in both English and Latin. This prayerbook will also have the order of the Mass—both the ordinary and extraordinary forms. Then there will be basic explications of some of the most important catechetical information, the virtues, and Catholic morality. One of the best features, to Joe’s way of thinking, will be an exhaustive examination of conscience that will be the perfect aid for you to use when preparing for your weekly confession.

This prayerbook will be made available in both digital and print formats, but I suspect most people will prefer the print format. I know I do.

The Bottom Line…

The bottom line is this: Joe Sixpack Productions is the most unique resource for Catholics in the online world today, and it is a vital resource that must continue. As is the case with all good apostolates, this one is struggling financially.

Something not mentioned in the above descriptions is for the parish priests across the nation. Joe has partnered with a fellow member of the Marian Catechist Apostolate who is a professional marketer specializing in working to help parishes put into place evangelism systems, parish growth systems, and fundraising systems that will enable parishes and schools to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually on complete auto pilot. (
You can learn about the man I’ve partnered with here.) The unfortunate reality is, unless Joe Sixpack gets the revenues necessary to continue then all the services and resources in production will not survive.

Persecution and Government Interference

Joe Sixpack needs your generous gifts. I must tell you, though, that your gift will not be tax deductible, because when this apostolate was established it was founded as a sole proprietorship rather than a nonprofit. The reasons for this are that the government has been persecuting some Catholic and all conservative political nonprofit groups through intimidation, underhanded tricks, and by collecting the information on donors—putting a chilling effect on nonprofits’ abilities to get the support they need. By establishing this apostolate as a business rather than a nonprofit, we are able to avoid the persecution tactics of the government and protect the information about those who use the Joe Sixpack resources. Also founding Sixpack Productions the way I have provides anonymity for both people who use the resources provided and myself in a way that being nonprofit simply cannot do.

Joe Sixpack must survive. If I didn’t have to worry about earning a living, I’d do this full-time and wouldn’t have to ask for your help, but that isn’t going to happen. So for Joe Sixpack to survive, I need you to do the following:

  1. Pray for this apostolate. Prayer is something everyone can do, even if they can’t commit to a gift for the apostolate, and prayer is the most powerful gift you can give anyway. Ask the Mother of God under her titles of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Mary Help of Christians to intercede for us to her Son. Ask your Guardian Angel to intercede for us. Ask St. John Bosco (our Patron Saint) and your own Patron Saints to intercede for us. And PLEASE spend some time before the tabernacle to ask Our Lord to help this apostolate.
  2. If you were directed to this page via one of my emails to you, please go back to your inbox now and forward the email to every layman and priest you know, along with an explanation of what this apostolate is all about. Everyone needs to be aware of and have access to all the resources we now offer and will be offering, whether they make a gift to the apostolate or not. After all, souls hang in the balance.
  3. Because souls hang in the balance, if you are here but did not land on this page because of one of my emails, please get the word out to as many Catholic lay people and priests as you possibly can. No, not so they can give a gift, but rather because they need the current resources we offer as well as those we are producing. The most important thing to me is that we reach out to souls… and that is Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke’s greatest concern as well.
  4. It’s much easier to know what Joe Sixpack can do from month to month when we know there is at least a set amount to work with in producing the above described resources. So I’m asking you to consider making a recurring gift of $10, $25, $50, $75 or $100 by clicking on the “Subscribe” button and choosing which gift you can afford to make. Please do that right now.
  5. All gifts are appreciated, so if you can’t help this apostolate with a recurring monthly gift, please click on the “Donate” button now to make your one time gift to allow us to continue producing the resources necessary to reach out to souls.

Thanks for reading this. Thanks for your prayers. Thanks for your gifts to keep this most vital apostolate afloat. And please know with moral certitude that every Sixpacker is remembered in my daily rosary.

In the Hearts of Jesus and Mary,
Joe Sixpack

P.S. According to St. John the Apostle, Jesus said to the Church in Laodicea, “I know your works: your are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will spew you out of my mouth.” It is the prevalent lukewarmness we see today that Joe Sixpack is trying to help defeat. God has blessed you with so much, so please be generous with Him and help the Joe Sixpack apostolate to stay in the battle for souls by making your gift today… right now.
