Be An Informed Catholic!
CWR provides full coverage of the news and events affecting the Church around the world, asking questions and examining issues the mainstream media avoids. It features interviews with important Church leaders as well as a comprehensive look at topics ranging from bioethics and life issues to the persecution of Christians in the Middle East and Asia, from the latest vocation news around the world to the ongoing culture wars in the United States.
OnePeterFive exists as a place to begin rebuilding the Catholic ethos. We’re not just here to zero in on the problems, but to offer concrete solutions. We want to restore Catholic culture, rebuild the Church as a patron of the arts, reinvigorate the family and the traditions that keep it strong, reform the liturgy, support vocations, dust off the old devotions and make them relevant again. We want to help infuse the world with beautiful music, inspiring art, families that pray together, parishes centered around the Eucharist, strong communities, and a new generation of Catholics who can effectively bring the Gospel message to a world hostile to that message.
LifeSiteNews.com Daily News reports are widely circulated reports on important developments in the United States, Canada and around the world. “A site of film appreciation, information and criticism informed by Christian faith” was how I first described Decent Films back in 2000. I wrote then, and write now, out of an abiding love of good movies, good writing and good conversation. I write as a Catholic Christian, with the hope of addressing interested readers of my own faith, of other faiths and of none. I have learned and benefitted a great deal from critics and other writers with outlooks different from my own, and my work is offered in that spirit.

My name is Jimmy Akin, and I am your blog host.
I was born in Texas and grew up nominally Protestant. But at age 20 I experienced a profound conversion to Christ. I planned on becoming a Protestant pastor or seminary professor, and I started an intensive study of the Bible. The thing was, the more he immersed myself in Scripture, the more I found it to support the Catholic faith. Eventually, I had to become Catholic, which I did in 1992. My conversion story, “A Triumph and a Tragedy,” is published in the book Surprised By Truth.
These days, I am a Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a member on the Catholic Answers Speakers Bureau, a weekly guest on the global radio program “Catholic Answers Live,” a contributor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and the author of more publications than you can shake a stick at. My books include The Fathers Know Best, Mass Revision, and The Salvation Controversy. I hope you’ll check them out!

Roughly 200 writers have passed our way. Many of the first writers are still here; others have moved on to new writing positions or other pursuits altogether with their careers and families. We now have a team of volunteer editors to help oversee publication. Nothing is worth doing if it does not lead to Heaven, and every new Catholic writer that adds a voice to the communion of the faithful makes the Catholic presence that much more luminous and outstanding in the world.

Some people, I have decided, must not sleep, and Monica
McConkey is one of them. How else do you explain the way she transforms things like egg cartons into a liturgical feast day celebration center-
piece, complete with a prayer service and a pseudo-bingo game on top?
Well, OK, I’m exaggerating, but only
slightly. Equipping Catholic Families shares plenty of ways to involve your whole family in actively being Catholic.

In the early 1900s a bankrupt publisher in Huntington, Ind. offered young Father John Noll a printing press for a single dollar.
Who would have ever thought what would come from this simple $1 investment to a local parish priest: a huge Catholic publishing and offertory solutions enterprise that not only survived but has thrived for over 100 years!
Father Noll's investment in the printing press and the responsibility that came with it was an act of radical trust in God; trust that a parish priest in a small town in a small state could launch such an enterprise and succeed.

In the thirteenth century, St. Thomas Aquinas wrote that…
"No man is able of himself to grasp the supreme good of eternal life; he needs divine help. Hence, there is here a two-fold object, the eternal life we hope for, and the divine help we hope for."
In this second decade of the twenty-first century, the divine help is what we Americans need most of all.
Hope is not empty optimism springing from a naive confidence that the future will necessarily be better than the past. Hope and trust are the premise of responsible activity and are nurtured in that inner sanctuary of conscience where ‘man is alone with God’ and he thus perceives that he is not alone amid the enigmas of existence, for he is surrounded by the love of the Creator!
The opinions expressed by our authors and those providing comments are theirs alone. As such, they do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Catholic Journal or its editors. Crisis has conceived its mission around the Holy Father’s insights. Each day, Crisis will remind countless Catholics of their heritage, give them the confidence to defend the common good, a just society, the teachings the Church, the family, the dignity of work and the sanctity of life. Our authors hope to help the new laity (and clerical readers) form both their intellect and their spirituality in a scholarly, but accessible, way.
Crisis will analyze, discuss, and propose—from a variety of prudential positions— sane solutions to social and economic problems. We hope not merely to arm our readers with the arguments necessary for navigating the ideological (and theological) minefields of the day, but to do so by proceeding into the temporal order with charity and humility. There is seldom a single Catholic solution to the challenges that beset us.
We hope that the staff of Crisis continue to display all the doggedness and the fidelity of the original editorial architects and contributors of this magazine. Our Catholic Faith and our society demand no less.

Co-founded in 1979 by Judie Brown and nine other dedicated pro-life Americans, ALL is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life education organization in the United States. American Life League is a 501©(3) organization committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death, ALL is rooted in pro-life integrity that stands up for every innocent human being whose life is threatened by what Pope Saint John Paul II called “the culture of death.” That ranges from the single cell human embryo to the elderly, the infirm and others at risk of having their life terminated by acts of euthanasia. The pro-life position notes that neither abortion nor euthanasia can ever be medically necessary or morally permitted.
